The Rise of Lionel Messi:

Lionel Messi, the Argentine forward, has had an exceptional career as a footballer. In a sport that is famously competitive and ruthless, it is hard for one to reach the top. For this reason, it is even harder to stay there and even more difficult to become a legend. Messi made his first team debut when he was just 16 years old. He was just one of many young players coming up through the ranks at the club. But while others fell away, Messi stayed. Very soon, it became clear that he was a special talent. Messi went on to become the best player in the world, one of the most successful players in history and a legend of the game. This is the story of how the Argentine icon rose to the top of the football world.

How a Small Town in Argentina Got the Word that He Was One of the World’s Best:

The city of Rosario in Argentina is a small city. It has a population of near about one million people. But it produces some of the best footballers in the world. When Messi was growing up in Rosario, he was just like any other boy in the city. He played football in the streets with his friends. But what made him different is that he was very, very good at the game. So good that it got to the point where it seemed like everyone in the city knew about him. When Messi was around 14 years old, he was selected to play for the youth team of Rosario Central. This is when the world started to take notice of the young talent.

The Making of a Superstar:

As Messi rose through the ranks at Rosario Central, he was putting together a formidable reputation as an exceptional player. He was the best player in his team, and soon he would be the best player in the team at the next level. In his teenage years, Messi was invited to play for a number of European teams. But he decided to stay in Argentina because he felt that he belonged there. “I was always closer to my country, to my house, to my friends,” he mentioned, “I stayed because I knew I could keep growing there,” he added. This would prove to be a wise decision. Messi’s rise through the ranks of the Argentinian football leagues was quick. He scored many goals that helped his team win games. It didn’t take long for him to get noticed by the big European clubs.

Messi, The Real deal: The inside story:

The story goes that Messi was just a boy who was kicking footballs around in the streets of Rosario. He had no formal training at all. In fact, he didn’t even know how to properly hold a football. “Even though I had a ball at home, I didn’t know how to hold it. I put my hands underneath the ball,” Messi said. But he was so good at kicking the ball that it didn’t matter that he didn’t know how to hold it properly. He was also so good at kicking a football that he didn’t need to go to a football field to play the game. Instead, he just kicked the ball around in the city streets.
