Joan Baez is one of the most influential and important American folk singers of the 20th century. She has been a major force in the music industry for over 60 years. Most people recognize the name Joan Baez. However, they may not be able to tell much about her. That is a shame because Joan Baez is a phenomenal artist. This article will explore her life and work.

Early Life:

Joan Chandos Baez was born on 09th January, 1941, in Staten Island, New York. Her father, Albert, was a physicist from Puerto Rico whose work took the family to different locations around the United States. Her mother, Joan Bridge Baez, was of Scottish, English, and French heritage. As a child, Baez was exposed to a wide range of music, including folk, country, blues, and gospel. As a child, she would often sing with her father, Albert Vinicius Baez. In 1958, she graduated from Palo Alto High School in Palo Alto, California. After high school, she attended Brandeis University for one year before deciding to pursue a career in music. Joan Baez developed her musical skills early on and quickly became a sensation on the American music scene. She began her career when she was just eleven years old and quickly became known for her powerful voice and exceptional guitar playing.

Not only in her mature age, Baez remained vocal since her early career as she supported Liberation movement of Bangladesh during the first few years of 1970s.

Catalan Independence Movement as well as Occupy Wall street Movement gained Baez’s praise and direct involvement in recent past.

Relationships with Prominent Figures:

Joan Baez has reportedly been engaged with different famous personalities at different period of her life. Most famous among all her relationships is with another phenomenal artist Bob Dylan. Though Baez has talked about their relationship openly, Dylan preferred to be silent on the same.

Only official relationship that Baez had was with David Harris. They were married officially and together have a son, Gabriel. But their relationship ended in mutual divorce in 1973.

More than Baez, Steve Jobs was extremely interested in their relationship. He was fascinated by Baez’s singing skill and musical charm. But, due to certain and practical issues their relationship could not proceed to maturity.

Most notably, none of Baez’s relationships ended in bitterness. Therefore, she never appeared in news due to wrong reason. This is a great mark of true human being.
